After we got our first glimpse of the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro this month, a new leak shows off the iPhone 15 Ultra, and it looks exactly like the high-end premium phone we’d hoped it would.
According to the CAD renderings shared by known leaker Ice Universe, the iPhone 15 Ultra will be the thickest iPhone since the iPhone 4s, with a depth of 8.25mm, a substantial increase from the 7.85mm of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, if the camera bump is included, Ice Universe claims the iPhone 15 Ultra will be 11.84mm, which is thinner than the iPhone 14 Pro Max (12.03mm). The overall size of the phone will also be a bit slimmer, as per Ice Universe’s specs:
iPhone 15ultra: 159.86 × 76.73 × 8.25mm
iPhone 14 Pro Max: 160.7mm x 77.6mm x 7.85mm
Ice Universe isn’t sure if Apple will brand the new phone as Pro Max or Ultra as both names are rumored. However, the design featured here is different enough from the rumored iPhone 15 Pro to justify the Ultra name.
According to the images, the camera bump will be substantially slimmer than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which could make the phone much more ergonomic. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is a bit top-heavy, largely due to the giant camera bump that protrudes more than 4mm from the rear casing. Apple needs to make the phone thicker because of the alleged periscope zoom lens that could be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Ultra
While the screen will likely be the same 6.7-inches as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the bezels appear to be substantially reduced, giving the phone a more immersive feel. Additionally, Ice Universe claims that the sides will switch from stainless steel to a titanium alloy like the Apple Watch Ultra and it will have no physical buttons, both previously rumored features. And like the rest of the line, the Lightning port will be replaced by USB-C.
Earlier this week, 9to5Mac reported that the exclusive color for the iPhone 15 Pro lineup will be deep red, though it’s unclear if Apple will also offer a titanium-colored case to match the Apple Watch Ultra.
